Ready to plumb the sprawling depths with the Alla?

It was Valentine’s Day when Nothosaur launched the Alla, and this new product clearly had my eye on it. I was initially interested in the Abyss II because of its tentacular appearance, but the Alla eclipsed it from my thoughts in a flash.

Two weeks after placing my order, I received this toy, but it took me three months to take the time to use it, recover from a badly sprained wrist and now I’d like to give you my feedback on my second purchase from Nothosaur Toy.

Packaging

I can’t say that this was a regular occurrence as I’ve only received one other Nothosaur order apart from the Alla , but from what I’ve seen from my own experience and on the networks, the parcels were wrapped in an unsightly gray plastic, so I’m pleased that this wasn’t the case when I received this parcel.

It’s completely discreet, with no mention of what might be in the parcel other than on the franking label where the notion of Nothosaur is present (but what could be more normal?).
Inside, you’ll find our new companion protected by bubble wrap, along with a host of goodies.

The Alla came in the black vacuum-packed plastic pouch you can see here, and next to it was a fabric bag with a dragon on it, which I use to store the tentacle so that it’s protected from the eyes, dust and other silicone toys to prevent them from damaging each other.

The goodies included two postcard-sized artworks depicting the inhabitants of the Nothosaur land, five stickers featuring Nothosaur toys, a fridge magnet and a keyring.

When I placed the order, there was a choice between the firmness of the silicone, ‘soft’ or ‘medium’. Having had an unpleasant experience with the firmness of the Hundoo, I opted for the ‘soft’ option so that it wouldn’t be unpleasant to insert and remove.

I didn’t have a choice of sizes, as at the time there was only the L size of around 60 centimeters, but now there are S and M sizes of 45 and 56 centimeters.

And if you’d like more information on sizes and diameters, there’s this table from Nothosaur :

This can be a great help in avoiding ending up with an oversized toy that may be too thick or too long for you to “take”.

Cleaning

The advice given in the illustrations on the Nothosaur website is pretty good, and I can only recommend that you read it to learn how to look after your toys properly if you’re unfamiliar with the subject.

Here are the main points to bear in mind, whether before using your toy for the first time or after playing with it.

First of all, it’s not TPE but silicone, and that’s a relief for those who are used to this type of product, because silicone is not porous, and it’s much easier to clean and sterilize without worrying about mould or bacteria.

Use a mild cleaning product to disinfect your toy. The most basic product is warm water and soap, but you’ll probably also find sprays, for example, that you can spray all over the toy (and this particular sextoy makes a lot of surface area!).

The aim is to clean every crease and every nook and cranny with great care, so as to avoid the proliferation of bacteria that could make you ill later on.

The aim, whatever product you use, is to thoroughly clean every nook and cranny before or just after your game session, to remove any fluids that may be present.

Then, of course, you’ll need to dry it, either using a lint-free cloth, or in the open air… As far as the Alla is concerned, it can make a cool garland if you hang it from the ceiling

On a regular basis, you can even put your Alla in a saucepan to boil off any remaining bacteria and disinfect your toy as effectively as possible.

Finally, store it in its little woven fabric pouch to keep it away from any other silicone toy.

Use

So, at this stage, if you haven’t already done so, you can give your Alla a warm water bath (and clean it while you’re at it) to bring it up to your body temperature, which will make it all the more pleasant.

In the meantime, depending on whether you want to use it anally or vaginally, I’d also advise you to clean yourself from the inside to avoid any nasty surprises while you’re playing.

Using a dry sextoy is not recommended, especially for the Alla , whether it’s for vaginal or anal use: at best the experience would be less pleasant, at worst you could injure yourself.

Take a quality lubricant (this will avoid it drying out too quickly or the texture being unpleasant, too sticky) and take a water-based lubricant.

You should avoid silicone-based lubricants in this case, as they run a high risk of permanently damaging your toy.

As far as the Alla I have is concerned, in its very flexible version, it would be a mistake to lubricate it from base to tip (i.e. 60cm) and then try to insert it… I’ve tested it and it’s clearly not the idea of the century.

The problem is that the flexibility of this toy, combined with its very long length, means that it will literally slip through your hands and you’ll be sweating to insert it correctly.

Instead, I suggest you go step by step, one section at a time, lubricating as you go.

Depending on how you’re going to use it, and the orifice you’re aiming for, I’d also advise you to take your time, so as not to force it in and injure yourself unnecessarily.

The soft version of the Alla that I have gave me a hard time figuring out how to insert it as I went along, while still keeping inside what had managed to get in. The problem was that this rascal would take the slightest excuse to get out and I had to start all over again with the whole thing lubricated and therefore very slippery.

I haven’t found a miracle technique and it’s a challenge. Having said that, leaning on the suction cups to progress seems to be the best way to go and that’s what enabled me to make the best progress until I was halfway inserted, i.e. about 30cm.

As you will have seen in the ‘Cleaning’ section, the suction cups on the plug itself (not those on the octopus), otherwise known as the ‘suction cup’, allow you to hold the plug from.

Texture

While the Abyss II has aesthetically pleasing suction cups that appeal more to the shape than to it, this is not the case with the Alla ; each suction cup is functional and will apply its own pressure to the surfaces it encounters… but let’s take a closer look.

Under the base, where the Alla rests, the shape is curved to give the sextoy a suction cup effect. Whether you’re putting it on your bath, tiles, the floor, a chair (or even in a swimming pool?)… The suction cup is powerful enough to hold properly while exerting a pull on the product.

You’ve seen it hold the ceiling despite the weight of this sextoy, but it can also lift a stool (although, let’s be serious for a minute, that’s not the use case you’ll be buying this sextoy for). What I’m trying to say is that the suction cup is pretty powerful, even though it’s easy to remove and can be used on a variety of surfaces, as well as being hands-free if you opt for a firmer version.

The foot of the Alla itself reminds me of an elephant’s foot, on which you’ll find the Nothosaur logo. There’s no wide base (even if it’s flared) so you don’t have to worry about it sticking out… But you’d still have to be able to handle the 60 centimetres. Still, on smaller and mini models, this can be a problem.

A few centimetres after this foot are two rows of prominent, raised suction cups, from the largest at the base to the smallest at the base.

Colours

As standard, Alla can be ordered in four different colours, two “standard” and two with the “glow in the dark” option.
For the Parasitism version I’ve chosen, here’s what it looks like.

Clearly, I fell for this colour because it reminded me of “Day of the Tentacle” and I couldn’t do otherwise, well done Nothosaur! And the glow-in-the-dark aspect is an undeniable plus, adding a nice touch when you’re playing without light.

And if these colours aren’t enough for you, Nothosaur allows you to choose your own colours, so you’ll have more choice. More details here.

Availability

Although it took far too long to post a review of this sextoy (sorry it took me 4 months but I had a little health problem), Alla has been available since Valentine’s Day 2023, i.e. 14th February, for prices ranging from 90 to 180$.

I remember paying in euros, and that the price in the shop was in euros, but that’s no longer the case and I can’t figure out how to switch… But the price will be between €82 and €165. In any case, if you use the “PapaRenard10” coupon, you’ll get a 10% discount on your order.

Conclusion

I was won over by the Alla at first sight, and it hasn’t failed to live up to its promises.

I’ll come back to this one last time: the great flexibility of this toy makes it harder to use and requires more effort. However, I’m the one and only one responsible, I had the choice between more flexibility or more firmness.

Apart from this one concern, it was a real pleasure to play with the Alla . It accompanied me over long sessions (for which the preparation was also long) and clearly the toy I preferred for anal use. It eclipses the Edge2, which I’ve never set up properly for prostate orgasm, anal chains or another brand’s dildo, which I haven’t reviewed on my blog yet.

In other words, I’d clearly recommend Alla , and you should add it to your collection if you’re a fan of tentacles.
